![]() ![]() right? Hang on.Īh jeez, I just solved my issue while typing up this thread. The old laptop does not have an SSD, but again, Terraria is not running from the SSD on my new one, so it shouldn't make a difference, right?. I don't remember them exactly because my brother has the laptop now, but I remember the HDD was the same (Hitachi 7200RPM), the GPU was Nvidia GT 540m, and the CPU was some 2nd generation i7 (4 core 8 thread). ![]() Using Nvidia Control Panel to set "Power management mode" to "Prefer Maximum Performance" (The clock rate no longer dips when the freezes occur but the GPU usage still does.)Ĭuriously, Terraria does not experience these issues on my old laptop which has significantly worse specs.Using "Set priority" in Task Manager to change Terraria's CPU priority to High.Using "Set affinity" in Task Manager to change which CPU cores Terraria is allowed to use (I disabled 0 and 1 as suggested in another thread.Solutions that have worked for others, but failed for me: (It is unclear whether these spikes are caused by Terraria, or if Terraria is merely reacting to them.) Disk (HDD) "Active time" spikes from 0% to anywhere between 10% and 50% when the freezes occur.GPU Usage momentarily drops significantly when the freezes occur. The clock rate of my GPU momentarily drops to its lowest setting when the freezes occur.Terraria puts Core 0 of my CPU to 100%, does not appear to touch the others. The issue persists in both multiplayer and singleplayer. The issue persists when running the game at lowest possible video settings, including at 800圆00 resolution. This could just be because I'm noticing it more when moving, I don't know. It can happen while I'm just standing in my house, but it seems to happen more frequently when I'm actively moving. The frequency and cause of this hitching are both seemingly random. ![]() While Terraria runs at a consistent 60fps, seemingly randomly the game will freeze for about half a second and then return to functioning as usual. My GPU driver is on its latest version (376.33). Click to expand.I also have an SSD for the OS but Terraria is running from the HDD so I figured it wasn't important. ![]()
